    Niskonlith Lake Provincial Park
    Enjoy swimming, boating and fishing at this provincial park and lake. Located 8 km (5 mi) northwest of Highway 1 at Chase by gravel road, the park features campsites but facilities are very limited.

    Sugar Lake
    Sugar Lake, located north of Cherryville, is 2080 ha. (5137 ac). Anglers may reel in Rainbow Trout (stocked), Dolly Varden and Kokanee. There are some accommodations near that lake, which include backcountry campsites and cabins, as well as a boat rental and launch site.

    McGuire Lake Fountain
    This city landmark has been spouting out of McGuire Lake since 1967. The high-flying fountain can be seen from far and wide but is best viewed from McGuire Lake park.

    Nicola Lake
    Nestled amongst rolling hills filled with grasses and pine trees, this lake is popular for fishing as it has 26 species of fish. Nicola Lake is 10 km (6.2 mi) northeast of Merritt.

    Caligata Lake Provincial Park
    This small park contains a clear lake and diverse plant and wildlife habitat. Although the park offers no camping sites or facilities, it is popular due to its hiking opportunities and abundent wildlife. Cross-country skiing is permitted during the winter.

    Thompson River
    The Thompson River, named after the Northwest Trading Company's explorer and topographer David Thompson, is formed at Kamloops by the joining of the South and North Thompson River branches. It flows west and south to Lytton where it feeds the Fraser River of southern BC. Known for its high water, the Thompson River is hugely popular for sport fishing and white water rafting.

    Walloper Lake Provincial Park
    Walloper Lake Provincial Park is located just off the Coquihalla Highway, 37 km (23 mi) outside of Kamloops. The lake itself is small but does attract anglers, canoeists and kayakers. The park is day-use only and no overnight camping is permitted.

    Otter Lake Provincial Park
    Located outside Tulameen, Otter Lake offers recreational opportunities and old-fashioned camping. The lake is a popular spot for water-skiing, canoeing, swimming and fishing. The park's campground is located along the lake, offering scenic views and close access to the park's activities.

    Adams River
    Entirely encompassed by the Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park, Chase River is famous for being the home of a massive sockeye salmon spawn that occurs every four years. An interpretive area on the salmon run can be found in the park. Salmon fishing in the river is prohibited at all times. The river is also a popular spot for whitewater rafting.

    Skaha Lake
    The Okanagan's fourth in the chain of five major lakes, Lake Skaha is one of the region's warmest body of water, and thus the major tourist draw to the area. Its large sandy beaches attract sunbathers and its winds entice windersurfers to flood the area in the summer. The lake is also used for boat cruises and dragon boat races. Lake Skaha is fed by the Okanagan Lake to its north.

    Lake Osoyoos
    Lake Osoyoos is the fourth largest lake out of a chain of five lakes found in the Okanagan Valley. Ten km (6.5 miles) long, the lake offers nearly 30 miles of shoreline for people to enjoy. Touted as the warmest lake in Canada, the water’s temperature reaches a bathtub warmth of 26-33 C in August. The lake’s five kinds of fish make it a hit with fishermen, with species including large mouth bass, trout and Kokanee. Lake Osoyoos stretches into Washington State in the U.S.A. A permit is required to visit the American side—and the lake is patrolled. There are several boat launches and marinas in Osoyoos that rent boats, skidoos, paddleboats and more.

    Kamloops Lake
    Kamloops Lake stretches from Kamloops to Savona and is 1.6 km (1 mi) wide and 29 km (18 mi) long. Fed by the South and North Thompson Rivers, the lake is popular in summer for fishing, swimming and boating. A lake shore park features a boat launch and wharf while visitors can stay at either the Lakeside Country Inn or camp at the provincial park.

    Lake Okanagan
    The largest of a chain of five lakes in the Thompson-Okanagan region, Lake Okanagan supports a variety of activities from houseboating to waterskiing. Houseboats can be rented for extended touring around the lake, and fishing is a popular pastime with the water full of rainbow trout, carp and ling cod. Be careful of Ogopogo - the Lochness monster of Lake Okanagan. With a water temperature that reaches 24 degrees Celcius in the summer, and 320 km (100 miles) of shoreline, visitors should not forget their swimming suits.

    Finn Creek Provincial Park
    Finn Creek is a deep channel off of the North Thompson River. The surrounding park offers excellent opportunities for anglers, as Chinook, coho and bull trout are all found within the nearby waters. The park also offers important grizzly and moose habitat, as well as a variety of bird species.

    Salmon Arm Nature Bay
    A Western Grebe breeding colony has been established at Salmon Arm Nature Bay, which is 11,000 feet of protected foreshore. Many migrating birds stop here because of the extensive mudflats and marshland. Over 250 species of birds frequent the area. Birdwatchers will enjoy the 4-km (2.5 mi) trail with bird-view blinds for watching from.

    North Thompson River
    As its name suggests, the North Thompson River is the northern arm of the Thompson River and originates near Valemount, BC. The beautiful blue-green river runs south along Highway 5 to Kamloops where it joins the southern arm to form the main Thompson River, which eventually feeds into the Fraser River in southern BC.

    Vernon Lake
    This gorgeous lake is nestled in the stunning Nimpkish Valley, 6 km (4 mi) west of Vernon and 25 km (15.5 mi) southeast of Woss. With a sandy beach, good trout fishing, a boat launch and large campsite, Vernon Lake is a popular holiday spot.

    South Thompson River
    The South Thompson River is the southern arm of the Thompson River and originates at Little Shuswap Lake between the towns of Revelstoke and Salmon Arm. A relatively slow-moving body of water, the South Thompson River is popular for fishing and floating and joins the northern arm in Kamloops to form the main Thompson River.

    Mara Lake
    Mara Lake offers anglers a variety of species of fish. Rainbow, Kokanee, Dolly Varden and Lake Trout have all been found here, and waterskiing, boating, swimming, and houseboating are all also permitted. Campsites are also located near the lake.

    Mabel Lake Provincial Park
    Mabel Lake Provincial Park is worth the 60km (37mi) drive from Vernon with a pristine lake and towering mountains. Off the main road, this park is usually quiet but is complete with many amenities including, but not limited to, camping (with bathrooms and running water), playground, swimming, boat launch, biking and hiking trails. The area teems with wildlife, from birds to deer (and sometimes bears), and offers great rainbow trout fishing.

    This small park's visitors can enjoy the boat launch (for small car-top type boats only), swimming and fishing. Camping area with pit toliets. 10 km NW from Balmoral exit off Highway 1. Last 2km of access is on logging road.
