Little Straw Vineyards

Little Straw is the English translation of the Slovakian family name "Slamka." Peter Slamka makes the complete range of wines that are produced at this winery, which is open daily from April to October, 10 am to 5:30 pm. A view of the vineyard and Lake Okanagan can be seen and award-winning wines can be tasted. Little Straw is located a few minutes from downtown Kelowna. Guided tours will be given beginning in mid 2005. A new building is being built and a licensed lounge is planned for next season where light meals will be served. A banquet and conference room accommodating 60 guests will be part of the new building as well.

Part of the CedarCreek Estate Winery, Greata Ranch wines were first released under their own label and sold from the Greata location in the spring of 2003 including vintages such as Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Merlot. This vineyard and winery also offer a wine boutique and tasting room, gifts, vineyard tours and picnic style lunches on the Greata veranda, open April 1st to October 31st, daily and closed November through March.

Focusing on cool-climate wines, Arrowleaf is a small family-owned winery, open for visitors from May 1st to November 15th. The wine shop is open from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm daily, and winery tours are held on Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm. Free samples are provided in the wine shop and the picnic area provides a resting spot where a view of Lake Okanagan and the vineyard can be seen.

This vineyard and winery are located on 10-hectares (24-acres) with an east-west ridge bisecting the vineyard, providing southern and northern facing slopes. The southern slopes with greater sun offer ideal growing for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir while the northern slopes grow Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. The wine shop is open daily July and August and Thursday to Monday fduring May, June, September and October. The wine shop is open by appointment only from November to April.
