Logan Lake Cross Country Ski Trails Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers have their choice of trails at this High Country spot. 36 kilometres are groomed for skating and classic, with two kilometres lit until 10 p.m. for night skiing. Maps are available at the trail head and top parking lot. User fee, $5. Open mid-Dec. to Mar. 1 for skiing; biking and hiking in spring and fall. Watch for signs on Highway 97C.

China Ridge Cross-Country Ski Trails This recreational area has 40 kilometres of trails and a warming hut. Free maps at trailhead, Princeton Chamber of Commerce and Backroads Bike Shop. Trails open year-round. Hikers and mountain bikers are warned to wear bright colours during fall hunting season. Grooming early Dec. to mid-Apr. Larch Hills Ski Area This cross-country ski area has both a wood stove-heated club chalet and back country cabin that can be booked for overnight stays. 85 kilometres of ungroomed trails; Dec.-Mar., grooming of 35 kilometres. Nickel Plate Ski Area Chances are the sun is shining on these 40 kilometres of groomed and 20 kilometres of ungroomed trails. Maps are available at the Penticton Visitors Info Centre (888 Westminster Ave. W., 493-4055), Ray's Sports Den (101-399 Main St., 493-1216), and the daylodge. Kane Valley Cross Country Ski Trails Approximately 18 km south of Merritt, the Kane Valley Cross Country Ski Trails wind through cleared valleys, typically with 1 to 1.5 m of dry snow. The base elevation of the trails is 1160 m (3800 ft). Nicola Nordic Ski Club maintains the trails and asks that non-members donate a small sum for use of the trails. Skmana Lake Trails This recreational skiing area has 15 kilometres of groomed trails and a warming hut. Free maps at Starting Line in Chase and at the trail head. No user fee. Sovereign Lake Ski Area This cross-country ski area has a day lodge, three warming huts and 43 kilometres of trails with signs indicating their degree of difficulty; combined with the adjacent Silver Star Resort Nordic Trails, it accesses 85 kilometres of trail. Maps available at the ticket office; day tickets, $6.50. Open Nov. 1-Apr. 15. In Silver Star Provincial Park, turn left off Silver Star Road onto Sovereign Road. Overlander Ski Club at Stake Lake Approximately 20 minutes south of Kamloops, Stake Lake is popular year round but especially so in winter when the Overland Ski Club oversees over 45 km (28 mi) of cross country ski trails, including a new dog trail. The club operates a heated day lodge and offers lessons, coach training and Ski S'Kool. Open daily November to March.
